SOUL EATER

I can smile now as I think
of the lies you told me,
the hypocrisy you showed
on that cold, cold night.
Our pasts came back to haunt us
and our dreams of forever
died with our trust and love.

I can see you in my mind's eye,
the way you looked just before
the blood began to flow.
Was that when you were happiest?
I should have seen
that other's pain
gave you so much pleasure.

But the love I thought I felt
kept me blind and safe
in the womb of ignorance
